Walhampton Monument

Visit the monument to Admiral Sir Harry Burrard-Neale (1765-1835) Burrard-Neale was a prominent Naval officer and former MP for Lymington who was greatly admired for the changes he brought to the town.

This walk also enjoys good views over the Solent and is easily accessible by train and bus. It is part of the Rail Trail series, offering walks from Brockenhurst and Lymington railway stations.

Directions

Exit the station and turn right at the end of the road.

Turn right at the junction, crossing the railway line and then the Lymington River via a former toll bridge.

Turn right and walk until you reach the white-painted Old Ferry House.

Turn left, then right and walk a short distance before going through a gated footpath entrance beside a National Park boundary marker.
