Guided birdwatching walks

It's 16:12 Clear sky, 16°C

The coastal guided birdwatching walks are intended for anyone who loves spending time on the coast: you don’t need to know anything about birds.

Families and children are always welcome (under 18s must be accompanied by an adult).
Bring binoculars if you have them, but don’t worry if you don’t, we can supply a few pairs for your use. You can also enjoy views of the birds through the rangers’ telescopes.

The walks are around two miles long in total and will last up to two and a half hours at a leisurely pace with regular watching stops. We welcome well-behaved dogs on our walks, but they must be kept on a short lead at all times.

Bird Aware Solent

Bird Aware Solent raises awareness of the ducks, geese and other migratory birds that travel to our special coastline to feed and rest in the winter, and to breed in the summer on our special coastline. Our rangers engage with visitors and communities along the coast around the New Forest, Southampton Water, Portsmouth, Chichester and Langstone Harbours and the northern Isle of Wight. We help people learn about the different species of bird and understand the impact of bird disturbance.
