Secrets of the New Forest National Park revealed at Open Day – and you’re invited!

There is fun for all the family at the New Forest National Park Authority’s open day to mark the end of its 20th anniversary year.

The free event on Sunday 22 March 2026 at Lyndhurst Community Centre includes talks and activities for all ages revealing different aspects of the New Forest.

The Open Day is part of the National Park’s month-long climate and nature Awakening Festival involving dozens of organisations.

Join the fun from 10am to 4pm and take part in:

  • Fun activities for all the family – learn about New Forest ponies; make a Roman pot; find out why Forest wildlife is so special
  • Help us create a piece of wildlife art to mark World Water Day
  • Hear talks about nature, heritage and caring for the Forest
  • Find out about careers as a ranger, planner, tree officer, building conservation expert and more.
  • Stop by for delicious refreshments from a New Forest Marque-accredited caterer.

New Forest National Park Authority Chair Victoria Mander said: ‘As we mark the National Park’s 20th anniversary there are so many fascinating parts to the New Forest still to discover – it’s a world capital for wildlife with many rare species, with a unique heritage and built environment. Everyone is welcome to come along and find out more about our National Park.’

‘Being a Ranger in the New Forest National Park’
11am – 12pm
