Scarce Chaser

The Scarce Chaser is rare in the New Forest but occurs in greater numbers at a few sites in East Dorset.

It is slightly smaller than the Broad‑bodied Chaser, though larger than species such as the Keeled Skimmer and Black‑tailed Skimmer.

Like these similar species, the male has a pastel blue abdomen, but both males and females show a distinctive black triangle near the end of the abdomen.
