ADOPTION STATEMENT

In accordance with Regulations 11 and 14 of the Town & Country Planning (Local Development) (England) Regulations 2012 (as amended), notice is hereby given that the New Forest National Park Authority formally adopted the New Forest National Park Design Guide Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) on 27 January 2022.

The SPD provides advice to help achieve high standards of design in new development, while retaining and enhancing the distinctive character of the National Park. It is applicable across the whole of the New Forest National Park. It conforms with, and supplements, the adopted New Forest National Park Local Plan (2019).

The SPD also reflects national planning policy and guidance on design-related matters (including the National Design Guide and National Model Design Code).

The National Park Design Guide SPD comes into effect immediately and replaces the previous National Park Design Guide (December 2011) in full. It is a material consideration in the determination of planning applications and appeals.

A draft Design Guide SPD was subject to a 6-week consultation between 10 September and 22 October 2021.
