Speeds on New Forest roads, A35 case study – Hampshire County Council

A35 Safer Roads Study (20 November 2025) outlines proposed road safety improvements along the A35 corridor in Hampshire, focused on sections through and around the New Forest and Lyndhurst. It maps priority scheme locations and highlights measures such as a 50 mph speed limit, new or improved crossings (including at Rhinefield crossroads and in Lyndhurst), potential cycleway provision (including on Gosport Lane), changes at Hunters Hill involving converting part of the carriageway to a cycleway, and shared-use widening and crossings on the Totton Bypass. Collision data mapping is included to show where slight, serious, and fatal incidents have occurred, supporting the focus on specific hotspots.
